That was my problem with the novel, it was so long and took forever to get into it. I felt like I had read an entire book by time things actually started happening. It is a tremendous achievement to finish this book and the writing is great, but I don’t think you giving up on it was a bad idea. I powered through it just to get it done and move on to something I’d have fun with, and I honestly wish that I had just dropped it as well.

I powered through it just to get it done and move on to something I’d have fun with, and I honestly wish that I had just dropped it as well. Because a lot of people just hate to see something their favorite artist does when it's a walk in the park. I guess I'll just have to get used to it and just be happy with the feedback.

I'm always glad to have the opportunity to speak openly, without fear of David Foster Wallace twisting my words in a pathetic attempt to accelerate the natural tendency of civilization to devolve from order to chaos, liberty to tyranny, and virtue to vice. For complete details, I refer you to my forthcoming book on the subject. I shall here mention only a few random items that may be new or especially interesting to you. For instance, we need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with hard-working families that are struggling to make ends meet. David doesn't want to do that. He'd rather abandon me on a desert island. Furthermore, by overusing such obscure words as “indistinguishableness” and “photochronographical” he consistently manages to alienate his audience. Every time I strike that note, which I guess I do a lot, I hear from people calling me mudslinging or feebleminded. Here's my answer: I am not predicting anything specific. I just have a feeling, an intuition, based on several things that are happening now that David will waste natural resources as soon as our backs are turned.

He doesn't have the intellect to see the harm he's doing to the earth and his own future self and family. I pray that David will remember to keep his eye on his home and family. God bless all of you.

What’s “taxing” reading 1100 pages of text? That mind fucks the shit are you but stays with you in a profound way. I mean you can think what you want. I know I just finished this book took over 60hr of my time to complete and head aches

Anytime I listen to the fucking nature radio I can't stop crying. Man, my heart goes out to all the people listening. I didn't understand it was that tragic when I was a kid. Anyways, excuse me if I don't know shit about this book and that you didn't answer my question. Cheers

Haha. I didn’t read your post at all and I’m not familiar with any of the authors you mentioned, but I still want to shoehorn in the fact that I’ve read THE ROAD by Cormac McCarthy. That’s right I’ve read it and absolutely loved it. Some say it’s a hard book to understand and it’s vastly underrated but it’s my favorite book ever. The prose alone is incredible (please don’t ask me to define what that means).

And now we're done. (I've spent hours upvoting and downvoting reams of reaction posts. I know this because I will tweet about my reaction to the latest one as soon as I finish writing this.)

Well, to be honest what I'm recommending is a bit off the beaten path because I'm a bit of free-thinker and intellectual which no one here really deserves to be graced with the presence of, but I was going to say House of Leaves or something by a massively popular Japanese author.

You probably haven't heard of it.

It's not from my book, but from the band of very different jigsaw puzzle people you find on the internet. Like the alien fan who has a basement full of old Sonic The Hedgehog DVDs. And some guy who reads a book every week called 'Feed the Tetrad'.
