I did give it a quick go, and initially felt distracted by the female vox so thought it best to do their proper albums without distraction then I’ll go back. Must admit, immediate impression wasn’t great on some of those vocals.

Gave Mariner a spin twice today - and it wasn’t good I have to confess. Her soft singing voice in A Greater Call and the first 6 minutes of Cygnus we’re fine and in fact worked really well, leaving the harsher stuff to Persson. but for me at least the rest is ruined by her vocals, they are just not for me. The possessed girl squeaky talk type singing and the screams just don’t sound genuine to me, I cringe every time. I just have this image of some god awful horror flick with a young girl possessed talking in some creepy infantile whisper to up the creep factor. So to me at least it just sounds forced here. I’m sure it’s not and thats her style, but just not my thing I’m afraid.
The music however was awesome, and matched the story line perfectly, it was a more polished version of Vertikal where it definitely had its own specific theme and sound throughout and I enjoyed that at least. Now back to more spins of Dawn to decide if it’s better than SatH.

Played it through a couple of time and although I think its very good, I still really feel I'm missing something. Adore the opener and 'Inland Rain' but nothing else really did the same for me.
