Is the snare really supposed to be that unbearable or have I gotten an awful mix or something? I feel like everytime there's blast beats, it drowns everything else

I'll give it another shot with speakers but that doesn't sound very promising at all. You should never be limited to listen to either speakers/headphones only because of the mixing.

I dont get why people hate the production. If you want noodly guitars and triggered drums go jam Persefone or whatever.

Actually the prod of Atonement sounds great with headphones. Probably one of the best Immo put out (not as clean and cold as Majesty and Decay, yet there is a good spatialisation and breathing room between each instrument).

Spatialisation is non existant on Ulcerate records, they just go for the magmatic wall of sound approach... which is unbearable on headphones for an extended length of time with this kind of layered compositions.

I agree with Kusangii. If a professional is working on your mastering, it should be enjoyable on a wide array of systems, not just on studio monitors. That's like mastering 101.

I have no issue with headphones, car speakers, portable speakers or anything of the sort. Ya'll are smoking too many beers.

Like actually, what your saying doesn't even make sense. Maybe try getting a version other than 128kps ripped off youtube or something idk. The production rules. Just cuz it doesnt spoon feed you every single note of every single instrument all at once doesn't mean its bad it just you actually gotta listen close. Its hardly a "wall of sound" btw.

The mix is fine, it's not uncommon in DM for the snare to be very prominent. I agree that on the CD it's a bit smothering due to everything being compressed to hell but I don't even think I've listened to the CD all the way through since I got my LP lol

You trying to tell me you gave this a perfect score based on the CD master? Even I couldn't do that and my Ulcerate fanboyism knows no bounds
