I joined mxtabs in 03 to post a tab for drowning pool’s follow that I had done as an ear training exercise lol. At the time the forums were mostly about guitar skills and gear. There was a lot of hype around Opeth at the time because of the Deliverance/Damnation releases. There was a long running death metal thread which is where I first was rec’d a lot of the classic bands and albums.

I joined first in 2009 or so, for a while, because I was way into reading all these reviews. Then lurked until 2018. In that year I decided to ditch my Facebook account but I wanted to have some online place to go and check music, so I decided to join again.
