Couple bands have a Post-Black Metal sound like this. I felt like this didn't innovate that sound, just perfected its execution. Not trying to insult it by saying it wasn't innovated, but felt like it was just a better version of previous efforts by them and like-minded bands.

Sometimes that's all a band needs to do in order to stand out. They don't always have to reinvent the wheel, sometimes they just have to smooth out the edges to make it roll better. I knew there were bands that had this "Post-Black Metal" or "Blackgaze" kind of sound, but these guys really solidified what the sound should be, in my opinion. These guys made very memorable soundscapes on this album that have stuck with me since I first heard it, and it's undoubtedly my album of the year.
