Jammed this today too. Both parts of the title track and the closer are incredible, I just wish the middle tracks were on the same level. Still only my third fave Alcest but it’s growing.

I think Alcest’s albums are the perfect length, I almost always prefer 40-50 minute albums to ones that are 50+

I don't think it will change. Neige has already said that he wants to make rather short albums because a lot of his favorite albums are around the 40 minute mark and he thinks it's a appropiate length.

Alcest fans who want longer albums should remember that Shelter and Kodama have excellent 5-7 minute bonus tracks, so including those it's only Souvenirs and this that are 40 minutes long.

"It's not enough!" [2]

Part of the reason I don't have any of their stuff rated above a 4, and couldn't call any 'masterpieces'. I find 30/40 min format works best with more intense music or exhausting extreme metal (e.g. Calculating Infinity), whereas more progressive beauteous stuff I prefer to be long and sprawling. I still haven't listened to Voyages and Shelter all the way through and they're longer so there's always a chance but those are generally considered their weakest, however I did not know there was a bonus track for Kodama which does excite me

Yea Alcest albums are just perfect the length they are. I always say quality over quantity because having longer albums is sometimes a “be careful what you wish for” kinda thing.

Voyages is 50 minutes long and it drags a bit in places

Agreed. I love a lot of Voyages and Shelter, their two longest albums, but can admit that some parts do drag on or feel unnecessary, whereas this and Kodama are nearly flawless from beginning to end.
