I think I just need to accept this mid-90s DIY style of metal just isn't for me. Between this, Demanufacture, and City I couldn't tell a difference between them. None of them are bad but I have no pull to relisten to any of them.

I meant more production with "DIY style", I've just never enjoyed that mid-90s industrial production. (I know that this album isn't an Industrial album but the production sounds very similar to it.) And again I don't think any of them are bad, there's a few songs I enjoy from each album.

I know what you mean but unless they’re strictly done by themselves and you could always research it, then it’s pretty dumb to say “DIY”
What you really feel and the unfortunate thing is that for the younger generation, people who didn’t grow up with this, or aren’t really into this style of music they’re all gonna notice that this sounds more “of its time”
Modern production is cool and all but a lot of the times they don’t or can’t translate what they put on record with authenticity or raw power and rely on tricks and crutches that became normalized
