ok so ive been looking for other opeth songs that have riffs similar to the one on The Leper Affinity (at around 8:15-8:50). found myself listening to that song for hours the other day. if anyone happens to know any that would be great.

Surely it's not the be all and end all for any real Opeth fan though. It doesn't mean it's going to be good or any more inspired than PC even if there is metal riffs.

Well any band can make a good album without their more renown elements, it's just less likely. Wouldn't know though, I wouldn't consider myself an Opeth fan. Find them to be overrated but I guess it's not my style, even my 4 for Morningrise is kinda pushing it I barely listen to it
