I just love how bloody bleak this one is. The relative sparseness and sloooooower doomier vibe coupled with ‘exotic’ instrumentation (bagpipes?!) adds a weight seldom witnessed in atmo-sludge. A lot of straight-up Doom leaves me cold, but this is a suitable replacement because it definitely has much of that flavour
Gonna be revisiting Neurosis’s discog and this one is still the benchmark (until I can be otherwise convinced!)

It’s weird because this was my first Neurosis way back when, yet eventually I circled back around to this as their peak (after some brief liaisons elsewhere)
This is one of only 4(?) albums I’ve effectively had 5d since the mid 2000s (or earlier… no I wasn’t on Sput hence ‘effectively’).
