Yeah Fishhook keeps growing on me more and more. I love how authentic the whole thing is, which is honestly my favorite quality in Rody's lyrics in general. Like I love the Neil Pearts of lyric work, but the simplicity of Phil Lynotts lyrics make him my fav rock lyricist

Agreed, the lyrics really made me think deeply, because this year I’ve taken in two stray cats. One of them, having never been tamed, scratches me, and I’d been considering giving her up, but after hearing this song, I’ve immediately had second thoughts.
I’m going to look into Neil Peart and Phil Lynotts’s lyrics; I don’t know much about them.

I just saw them 2 days ago on their recent mini-EU tour and my god, it was amazing. Rody is 100% back in top form and all the new players are extremely talented too. I hope they'll try to tour more now because I feel like one of the main reasons people kinda forgot about them is their lack of touring since covid. And even when they toured, it was mostly just Canada.
So yeah, go see them if you get a chance. Btw they played Mouthpiece and Fishhook from this one and they both worked great. I hope I'll get to hear Grandfather's Axe live in the future.

Palimpsest was awesome and this is somehow even better. I love how at the end of a track just when you think you've heard it all they pull out an amazing outro melody, like on the closer. The interludes are really cool, too!

this was really really good. I felt like it was as whimsical as only Sikth could be at times, I don't think their earlier stuff was quite this quirky and adventurous

They are going to go places after releasing this I think. They've always been good but they seem rejuvenated and fresh, so I'm thinking this might be a breakthrough album.

I feel that this quirkiness and adventure began with Fortress and really started to show with Scurrilious, so it has been quite awhile imo. Kezia is the only one that felt a bit more 'serious' to me

I definitely misinterpreted the lyrics on Fishhook. I thought it was about a neighbor with shitty politics that would still help him out in need. Turns out its 2 different people. One sucks ass and Pete is cool

Your first interpretation is more interesting and nuanced, but yeah it is the latter. I think it is interesting that he learns from Pete 'digging him out' that he himself should still be trying to 'dig out' his dick neighbor.
