I think it’s for sure more consistent than Dusk but they took a whole lot more risks with their sound on that record, and personally I’d say Single Tear, Arkhipov Calm, I Can Tell You About Pain, and Reptilian are just as good as most of the tracks here

But yes overall I’d definitely say this is their best since AWLWLB

Any band dropping one of their best records over 30 years into an acclaimed career is going warrant praise and glaze. I also can see some fans who prefer the more experimental/atmospheric side of the band might be disappointed but this checks all my boxes personally

Album is great. Wasn’t really blown away by anything on first listen but enjoyed the whole thing. Need to listen a few more times

And it’s wild that even the haters saying we dickride the band too hard still have the mf at a 3.5 lmao

@futures

atp static dress is the only band that I think can top this. Obv still very early but I cannot think of any other bands that I like that will probably drop something this year that somehow tops this

Believe me, I’d love to be wrong. But if this ends up being my AOTY I would not be surprised.

not aoty, just referring to sputnik event bands. where if one of them releases something it's beyond massive. it's always a fun time and makes me happy to see so many people still here.

Yea not sure what people are hearing that I’m not, but I’m glad folks are enjoying themselves. The site is better when ‘tones and converge are active

I've never been much on Converge but this incredible. Aggression + intrigue is tough to balance but they've nailed it here.
