Agree on that, botb, but damn what an amazing EP!
Hunter sounds straight up like Emperor and Sorry Laid the Hearth goes into some Burzum esque territory. The latter must be among their best songs ever, but i need more time with these tunes to make up my mind completely on that part

Yeah it’s good stuff, would love a full LP of more metal material, but I still think this is the best amalgamation of all their eras wrapped into one

I wouldn’t hate a more riff centric deafheaven era, they’ve proven they’re more than capable

15 seconds into that new EP and already thought, band can do no wrong. Incredible how consistently high quality these guys are (and yes, I include Infinite Granite in there also)

"It straight up does not sound like a different band at all lol, all the same things they normally do are present. It’s just more aggressive, but they’ve done that in the past on most of their records for at least a song or two"
Thank you botb lol. It's like people forgot this band used to be heavier. Agreed they should do more riff centric stuff like the EP though

Holy shit, the new ep is amazing. Sorry Laid the Hearth may be their best song as well. Like, I'd never expect a Deafheaven song to have a 'brutal' moment.

Sorry Laid the Hearth is genuinely terrifying. One of their best tracks ever. My soul left my body when George hits that low growl in the second half

Sorry Laid is def the best. Hunter was great and visceral but standard fare to a degree. Closer is epic
