listening to this again, it's so fucking good. I don't even hate Green Light anymore. Still don't love 1999.
I have decided that one of my opinions on Danny Brown discourse is that Atrocity Exhibition is his most boring album. A lot of it is good, Aint it Funny it a top 5 Danny song, but musically he's trying to be someone he isn't. Like oh sweet a Kendrick feature, the world needs more of those. It's great lyrically bc he is the goat, but it is 100% his least interesting album (maybe uknowhatimsayin idk). I get that a lot of people don't like the features and production on this but the more I listen to more I dig it. A couple of questionable choices but that's what makes Danny special. If you don't love me at my 1999 you don't deserve me at my Lift You Up.
Awesome album. Probably my 3rd favourite Danny Brown album. Really really fun, super creative, lyrically amazing, just full of life. I get why a lot of the OLDS don't like it, probably expecting or hoping for something really different than this, but as a person whose music taste knows no age I have decided that this album rules. (This last part is a joke. I am 36, have the dumbest taste ever, and don't listen to much zoomer/alpha music.)
Album good.

1999 has legit one of the worst guests I've ever heard. I couldn't even make it past the entire song and it's only about 2 mins long so that's a bad sign.

saw him live the other night, was a good time. honestly when you put some of these tracks right next to his songs off old, it really doesn't sound all that far off from that era. still haven't spun this album thoo but what i heard(mostly singles) was consistent with the old-era. but yeah if your going into it expecting something like atrocity exhibition, definitely a different vibe

saw him live last week as well... the crowd reaction left me kinda perplexed. didn't feel like much of anyone cared for these songs besides copycats, which i guess wasn't totally surprising on its own... yet people were going crazy when he played that string of digicore(?) features towards the end. besides aint it funny and scaring the hoes it almost felt like they didn't really know danny's own music at all. (granted, i feel like this venue was just way too big for danny in 2026 so the vibe was a little off as is... for reference hayley williams had a line wrapped around the block this place the previous week).
it almost feels like danny kind of elevated all the artists and producers on here at the expense of himself in a way. felt like there were more jane remover, underscores etc fans there than his own
oh and should prob mention, danny put on a really great show and rapped every single verse without a backing track. cool stage setup too
