"that one of you listens to nearly 2 hours of stuff that isn't for you just to own another sput user"

you literally shoutboxed me over it, so the real question is why would I go out of my way to spite someone I literally never interact with until they try to project their fantasy onto what I listen to half of the time?

"she had billie eilish style" is a commentary on perceived personhood through the lens of obtusely categorized aesthetics. it's literally a generation defining lyric and you refusing to engage with it with the level of depth it was obviously designed to express is not a good look

sry the moment you reduce an album to out of context meme lines, you forfeit any right to high horsing over depth

I don’t get the ai criticism at all

Those lyrics are pretty decent to me. The whole song is about a state of longterm depression and malaise and going through the motions. It’s not super deep or anything, but I think it accomplishes the job well enough

you listened to it AND census just to own flagash with that little soundoff fripp

also in like 20 years new listeners just hearing it for the first time will be like "who is billie eilish" i think, i'll be shocked and pleasantly surprised if the album will be timeless in the same way something like dark side of the moon is

Ants is far from beyond critique, but your criticisms of it are pretty much all done in service of what others think Venin

sad to say there are plenty of albums better heard for the sake of owning flagash than on their own merits

the album is coated in a million layers of symbolism and the pop culture references sound just as hackneyed there as they do on a project like die lit by playboi carti to me. i'm sorry. it'd be hypocritical to give it a pass then complain about nicki's "facetime me carti" verse or all the bullshit on that brakence album.

music hadn’t really evolved to a point where it could convey the specificity and nuance of human emotion when Dark Side of the Moon came out. say what you will about his vocals, in 20 years I think there’s a good chance Isaac will be viewed as one of the primary forces behind making that leap

"the album is coated in a million layers of symbolism"
kindly take one song - any song, although i'd suggest Concorde for easy mode - from that album and analyse the lyrics extensively in plain view, or else forfeit any benefit of the doubt that you've engaged with this band lyrically at all beyond a couple of stray lines with discernible buzzword value (one of which isn't even on the record) and shut the shit up about this topic forever thank you

@Colton: i'm not sure i get what you're putting down, that sounds like erasure of even stuff that was super emotive that came before DSOTM like the entirety of the soul genre and trailblazers like Aretha, and the post-punk/gothic movement of things like joy division and the cure, or grunge ala AIC, Soundgarden and Nirvana, or even the whole emo sound. hell, even in the 2000s stuff like Death Cab for Cutie and Arcade Fire was plenty emotional even if the latter does nothing for me. All of that doesn't matter but Isaac Wood does for essentially deriving from the decades of emotionally-conscious music? Hell early BCNR was essentially a Slint tribute act.

I don't know why i need to tell you this like you're a small child, but I listen to stuff because I choose to. Whether or not I choose to make a snarky soundoff or not is not your concern, and if it colours your perception of your weird little crusade to feel persecuted over every little thing, then more power to you. You come into every thread possible to rant over stuff no one was talking about, let alone cares about, and act surprised when there's pushback over it. What do you seek to achieve by doing this outside of getting attention, because you clearly have an abundance of it.

"Concorde, I miss you

Don't text me 'til winter

I can hardly afford a second summer of splinters

This staircase

It leads only to some old pictures of you

Through an a-thousand-mile-long tube

Hey, what's a city boy to do?"

Considering a Concorde is a plane, he appears to be saying he misses the plane, and doesn't want the plane to text him until winter, a plane cannot text as it does not have fingers. The next part appears to be about a staircase giving him splinters, which I can relate with as I've had that happen to me. It leads him to old pictures of the plane, through a tube of some sort? And he doesn't know what to do now that the plane is not around. I do not understand what this is supposed to mean, is the plane an allegory for a lost flame? because that makes it make a lot more sense contextually.
