The Pitchfork review for this is one of the worst I've ever read on the site lmao, reads like a 13 year old hypebeast wrote it for his school newspaper

I'd be lying if I said I knew how exactly. I was thinking about how both this record and the last one (at least in part) worked as pop albums, to a much greater extent than anything he's done before. Also thought how much the site ate that shit up and not a lot of people are into either this or the last one, so somewhere between that the notion popped up. As I said, random brain shit, there's not really a big correlation between the two, other than both of em being amazingly produced pop albums

as a damn. stan i heavily disagree with this, at least in regards to mr. morale ("die hard" being the exception). even black panther had wayyyyy better pop efforts
mr. morale is easily at its best when kendrick is just rapping. cannot stand his attempts at singing on there and i'm glad that similar to damn/black panther he mostly enlisted way more talented people (mainly sza) to take the lead on that on this one.

Maybe dumb to compare but…this wipes the floor with this year’s Tyler album for me.
So in that context this will be underrated…

i like both albums but think i lean kendrick. this album is only 8 minutes shorter than chromakopia but feels like 30.
