Saw her recently when her and AFI opened for 30 seconds to mars… was awesome to see poppy and AFI before leaving lol. What a weird weird combo
Page Break: Surviving on Defiance and The Centers Falling Out are my meh tracks. Neither are bad. surviving is just boring and the center she has just done the chaotic stuff better before.

Where has she done chaotic better before

Those are two of my favorites, haha. Center is a Knocked Loose song, Defiance is a Loathe/Deftones song. They both rule for totally different reasons. Insane range across this album.

Honestly so shocked how well this album has been received. Shit, I saw her on a billboard in Times Square yesterday. Just wild metalcore was the genre that would make her finally blow up. Putting her entire discography on shuffle is the most all over the place thing ever at this point.

Her pokemon cover rules too
Thank you, Poppy, for giving us an enjoyable experience and giving me another reason to crap on spiritbox

Honestly metalcore has become such a wildly accessible genre such that I'm not surprised it has, at this point, started rivaling/surpassing at the least the likes of big modern rock acts. It's been a meticulous and calculated shift that IMO has also aligned deeply with how vast the alt crowd has become. I fuck wit it.
Tldr new Poppy is the best album evah

Having way more fun with this than I expected. So far I'm mostly spinning, The Cost of Giving Up, They're All Around Us, Vital, Nothing, The Center's Falling Out, Surviving on Defiance, and Halo. Skipping the other half of the tracks, but these are solid enough that I still like this a lot overall.
The heavier shit on this slams.

after all the hype and being a long-time Poppy fan, I'm kind of let down by this. I still think Choke is her best, I even prefer I Disagree to this, clumsy as that album is. This isn't bad, I just expected to have my mind blown more, this feels like Spiritbox karaoke a lot of the time

She did Chaotic much better on her Knocked Loose feature and her cover of Spit. I think EAT/Choke were also steps up in the chaotic style comparatively. Center Falling Out is boring to me.
As for Defiance, bowler may be onto something, I am not a deftones fan.

The transition from Crystallized to Vital is sublime.

I think metalcore is popular because now you don't need instruments to make what use to be very technically difficult music to make, so it's helped it spread quickly. Add some pop sensibilities and bam, super popular genre.
