LP was always a time capsule band for me. Really loved Meteora and Hybrid Theory, and I still jump back into those albums as a nostalgia trip, but they were never a band I actively followed as I got older.

LP's charm was first and foremost that they were a nu metal boy band, their identity is perhaps the ultimate distillation of early aughts American angst, that they leaned into reticent nihilism as the Iraq War progressed isn't a coincidence. Really they were the synthesis of multiple dominant cultural movements that deflated as a dying empire began openly doing dying empire shit. I think its a bit silly to talk about how LP changed when the culture that created them could only exist pre-9/11

“who has had a more tasteless 2020s reunion... linkin park or pantera??? lmao”
and pantera tbh, Dime and Vinnie were on bad terms with Phil when they died, I could at least imagine that Chester would want the band to go on… but with a Scientologist?
Yeah idk actually. Still prob Pantera

As an old school LP fan the general consensus from me is: Approved!
To make a long story short - the only thing missing is Joe Hahn (who has been criminally underutilized since Meteora). They had a great shot at bringing him back for an entire solo track or something. I don't get it. Missed opportunity for a 'Cure for the Itch 2.0'
Best picks: The Emptiness Machine, Heavy is the Crown and Stained. The last one in particular is banging. The voice of the new vocalist is very 50/50, you'll either love or hate her.
Album art is pretty cool too, though I wish they had returned to "The Soldier" as an inspiration and theme
