listening to this again, i just have to lower my rating half a notch

really average to me, and the songs are far too formulaic. it's quite obvious

I think SSOASS is easily one of their best. It's pretty much the perfect concept album.

Fear Of The Dark also gets knocked far too much.

Not as good as their last two and not up to typical Maiden standards but still not bad.

I've always thought The Legacy was a pretty epic album closer.

The X Factor was twice as dark and brooding as this, but everyone denies its existance because it has Blaze on it.

Maiden never put out a bad album, just No Prayer through to Vitual XI were of lower quality to everything else, but they weren't all that bad.

This doesnt compare to other maiden albums in my eyes, the songs are too long and story like, only one eargasm on it and it was the longest day.

Well, its true there isn't a bad song on this but a good few lack immediacy and the galloping energy from previous albums is quite lessened for the most part. I like it but not as much as their 80's stuff

It is indeed an amazing album, but not their best. That title goes to Powerslave

"the songs are too long and story like"

That's why I like this album, it's so, for lack of a better word, epic.

"only one eargasm on it"

when Lord of light gets heavy after the intro and bruce gets frantic is one of my favourite maiden momments. and For the greater good of god is amazing.

I remember being chuffed when I saw the track lengths for the first time. I thought they were going more progressive again. The songs do have an epic feel to them though

''Also, am I the only one who thinks of Wasted Years when listening to Different Worlds?''

No, you're not !!!

I can't believe someone else thought of it, as i did. :-)

Right after great solo you kind of expect ''SOOOO UNDERSTAAAAND...'' , but you get *lame* ''Tell me what you can hear...''

Chorus is probably the weakest part in that song for me.

(Just like i'm not fond of ''Can i play with madness!?!!'')

I know many ppl really like 'Can i play with madness', but imo it is the weakest song on SSOASS. Has the weakest lyrics and music too. And first time i heard it, i hated that chorus.

Now, i got used to it, and the whole song - live versions helped me cause they sound better in a way (bass sticks out, and crowd singing is great!). However, it's still my least favourite there.
