i'm liking it a bit so far but it's really one note and downtrodden. getting kind of dull. feel like they are better at going upbeat and energetic. don't like the vocal effects either.

They already mastered their downbeat/downtrodden sound on 'A Hero's Death' which is becoming a bit of an underrated one in their discog now maybe.

I agree with gabba and Doof here. After three listens is fine but on the short side of fine.
Happy for you, Demolition and you miss me are great, Marianne did a good job for a single but pairing One man with Where is gone drags the album as both songs are dull, Japan is cheese and the rest are kind of ok i guess?
At this point it must be hard to look like they are not trying hard. It looks exhausting.
Also all the Cure, Depeche Mode or even Nirvana, lol, are not something to rave on like they discovered the wheel. Synth and 80s? again from another indie band? That's just lazy.
And yeah first 3 records rule while Romance had some amazing heights.

Opener suck. Next 5 songs are pretty cool. Stil wraping up the rest

Gotta say that Six Shot Morning is one of the strongest, most impactful and potentially iconic opening tracks of any album I've heard. Up there with Plainsong, Over The Ice and The Stars of Track and Field as openers that perfectly set up what is to come, while at the same time having world-altering standalone impact.
It's one of the main reasons why I love Dopamine Chamber so much...

'Opener suck. Next 5 songs are pretty cool. Stil wraping up the rest'
Opener isn't much more than a glorified intro for me, though it's not bad.
The next 4 songs are the best stretch of the album but I'm still not warming to Tongue.

I have a running top 300 albums of the decade so far...and I can't quite believe the new one probably wont make the cut now, let alone at the end of 2029.

Skinty Fia currently sits in the top 10....

tongue is an absolute stinker. first half is really solid. love demolition and mimesis. back half is pretty lacking. but intimate is a killer closer, love that rap verse. wish they did it more.

I didn’t even know 300 albums were released in this decade so far

Glad Romance finally got a companion/follow-up album (those pink motifs though). I dig this album anyway but early returns from Dopamine Chamber don't improve or hurt this album. The new one is a logical follow-up to this but idk why. They groove great together on shuffle. DC definitely lets its hair down more than Romance. both are great - all 5 are great - all hail Dublin

Where Is Gone? is becoming a real chore, feels 8 minutes long.

I hate people who say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" so I can't stand "Where Is Gone?".
