I understand the critique, it's fine. There's plenty of reviews sticking to what the album sounds like from an impersonal perspective. I prefer to give a bit of personal background and my own experience with the album because that's what I like to read when reading other people's reviews.

I find that you can better describe an album by illustrating the kind of emotions it invokes. I can spend a paragraph focused solely on the melodies, riffs, and drums but that usually wont be able to give the reader an idea of how the album sounds. At least it doesn't when I read reviews like that.
