While I'd like more riffs, I'm kind of fuckin w the Evanescencecore shit on the new one lol. It's a good contrast to the mosh parts

yeah, I don’t care for it man. I think they had two directions they could’ve gone in after this one and they went in the one I was afraid of. I kinda wanted these guys to fill the Venom Prison shaped hole in my heart but yeah they went in the Evanescence but with screams and breakdowns direction.

It’s not terrible but yeah if that was your takeaway from this record you will not like the new one

I prefer the cleans on the new one to this tbh. They did say River Runs Red by Life of Agony was a huge influence cuz of the clean singing over hard riffs/mosh which I can totally see off the first track

So if this band hasn't done much for me in the past, the new one won't sway me?

Yeah tbh I’m going to the show for static dress and then leaving, I really don’t fuck with the new record from these guys

this is also like the third metalcore release this year that I was excited for that wound up being extremely disappointing.
It’s not as dire as the new Employed to Serve, that record is fucking terrible, but I really don’t like the path these guys are going down. They’re gonna chase more mainstream attention and are gonna wind up watering down their sound even further.

New one also has some the shittiest album art I've seen in awhile. Actually annoys me seeing it in my recently played lol.

Emma is such a strong vocalist. She goes from sounding angelic to bloodthirsty at the drop of a dime. Its just frustrating that the band never really goes beyond the chug riffs and breakdowns unless they wanna have a ballad moment. I miss when they'd have some cool catchy melo-death riffs and then they decide to cave your shit right in with a breakdown, and if you were lucky Emma would toss in some cleans.

Ya she’s by far the highlight of the band at this point

Emma rules but I miss how she sounded on the debut.
She's definitely the most interesting part of the new album tho

yeah I just disagree man. I listened to it twice last night and nothing really grabbed me aside from her vocals. And tbh yeah her vocals had a rawer quality on the debut but I think she sounds much better now than she ever did.
I might hang around for a few songs from these guys just to see if they’re more fun live but the record is just doing absolutely nothing for me

I dig the last 3 track run. It’s “good” but not much sticks out or warrants a revisit. It’s not as sing song chorus driven as I expected it to be to be honest but yeah the music this go round is pretty bland

Heaven Departs I think is the best off the new one. Ending bit goes hard.

New album is mid city
Honestly for as much as I love the breakdown centric approach this band has always pedaled even the breakdowns lack any real gusto
Innate Thirst is genuinely 80 percent breakdown and it tears my rectum in half

I do dig the new one, but it can't touch this one with a ten foot pole.
