So they released a new version of the album with two bonus songs and improved mixing? I'm intrigued.

I'm intrigued as well but doubt it'll make much of a difference

The bonus songs didn't grab my interest much, and I didn't notice production improvements.
Sucks for the people that bought physical copies of the album if artists are just going to retroactively 'update' albums on digital platforms..

I checked Terrified and Childhood because I think they're the songs that suffer most from poor mixing choices and they still sound pretty fucked to me
|

I agree. I took a peak on some of the songs and they didn't sound different to me.

Yeah, no difference. Sucks.

Can someone find anything about the mixing being changed? I did a quick google and didn’t find anything..

And... Hurt interlude is the best song here. Need more of that

This album makes me really happy the way the last Alkaline Trio album did. It’s my old heroes I grew up listening to 20 something years ago having a blast and just being glad to be alive.

Weird you say that.
This album is so sad and almost terrifying to me. The nostalgia here is all so dark. The last song is haunting to me.
This is like the polar opposite of the feel good music on Enema of the State. Feels like one long Adam’s Song almost.

The difference is Adam’s Song was about suicide, this album is about friends who have been through a lot, good and bad but realised through everything that they love each other and want to stick together through whatever is to come.
40 something year olds wondering where their childhood has gone might seem sad on paper but their childhood was touring the world partying and become rich and successful so I’m sure it’s just nostalgia for the good days rather than regret.

Not really what I got from the album.
It’s super dark. Mark talking about cancer is horrifying. Basically they’re talking about how they all would have just waited for each other to die if one of them didn’t narrowly survive cancer and wake them up.
The “where did our childhood go” thing doesn’t sound optimistic at all. It sounds like they’re afraid of death and how fast their lives have spun by and could end at any minute.

I dunno, I wouldn't call this album super dark but you do you.
S/T is way darker than this as a whole imo.

“Nobody will give a fuck when you die. Last few years all I’ve thought about is impending doom and saying goodbye. You can kiss me goodbye but it won’t do any good anyway. Our life is flying by and almost over and we would have all abandoned each other if one of us didn’t almost die already. Can’t rewind time. Who the fuck are we in 2023? But remember when we used to be young and in love?”
Super optimistic stuff. Lmao what are you listening to. Like I get there is some feel good tracks on here like Ole but overall it’s meant to be a dark nostalgic album.

dark is definitely not a word I would use to describe this album.
