I suggest you hear at least their first five albums, as well as Decade of Aggression. The one with the priest cover, Diabolus in Musica, is okay but hardly what you would call 'classic Slayer'. For the casual listener I think Seasons in the Abyss is best, as it is their most accessible (no by no means less awesome) record. This is undoubtedly awesome though.

Hell Awaits I actually believe to be their best album. The title track sends chills down my spine.

If they had held back Haunting The Chapel and put the songs on HW... That would easily be their best album.
Only songs I don't really like on it are Praise of Death and Kill Again, but I haven't listened to them that much

This is the most overrated album I've ever purchased. A majority of the songs sound the same, they lyrics are terrible, and there's no actual vocals (yelling/screaming doesn't count as vocals). The guitar solos are really just random notes, especially the "Angel of Death" solo.
and yes, I really did purchase this album w/ my own money. Somewhere out there, starving Asian/African kids are starving, and I just threw away my cash on a piece of crap known as "Reign in Blood".
