That could just be the Travis Barker mix 😬 But hopefully not.

His voice sounds autotuned too
I love the energy and melody, however

i don't mind the mixing too much tbh. Key and Mendez have their own studios etc at home and i trust their judgment as far as being able to put it all together. The melody is fantastic and Key and Sean sound great singing together, so while it might be an acquired taste, i think we're in for a treat w/ the full song and i hope it's more indicative than not of what the rest of the album looks like

Yeah all 3 songs I've heard anything from have all been super catchy and well-constructed, and IMO have good lyrics

Feels like we are nearing a paper walls type "loudness war" situation. Great tunes, lyrics, performances paired with not so great production.
Considering paper walls is my fav YC record this might be a W?

Yeah tbh I'm not super worried. I agree that things sound really compressed, but the energy and melodies are as good as they've ever been. The Paper Walls analogy is pretty fitting.

The "Honestly I" sample has really grown on me. The energy, drumming, and violins feel very "The Sound of You and Me" ish. Could easily see it being the opener on the upcoming LP.

The album is called Better Days and is coming out Oct 10. They announced it on a youtube video a few days ago.

one of the new songs is called City of Angels which i'm hoping/assuming is some kind of sequel/successor to City of Devils from L&S

that sure is an album cover
production does in fact suck on these new songs, and like they're decent enough but also kinda just feel like wyttsy b-sides or something :[

actually no, wyttsy c-sides bc promises rules

No surprises here, but I dig both songs. The production feels Paper Walls-esque which will be a negative for some but for me feels nostalgic. Both songs are very catchy and memorable, and the lyrics are solid with some occasional moments of greatness.

tbh for pop punk as a genre they're excellent songs, but for yellowcard songs they're just okay. kinda scared that the album's just going to be 10 "bangers" without much depth to the songwriting.. also whyyyy is it releasing in october hahaha, missed opportunity for a summer album fr

Yeah it's a really long rollout which isn't ideal for fans
But if every song is as energetic and melodic as these two new singles, then I suspect it'll be worth the wait.

Songs sound much much better on Apple Music than they did on that TikTok link which I was hoping for. Not bothered at all by the prod now
The album cover is awful lmao. So lazy. Split on the songs. Opener/title track was pretty whatever except for that interlude gave me throwback vibes. honestly i was much better. Really enjoyed that one

The album cover is a picture of Ryan's kid's piano (he had his first child, a baby boy, in 2024). It's been touched up too much though so I can see why some people think it was AI generated. The actual thing is a variation of this toy I believe: https://a.co/d/h9PpNaD

Both new songs are great. And sound way better on apple music as previously stated.
Cover art (while kinda cute) feels kinda sterile. 10 tracks is pretty disappointing. And the long album rollout is very interesting. Gonna be hard to keep the band in the public eye after the shine of the two new songs wear out.

I don't mind 10 track albums (WYTTSY and SA were both 10 tracks), the hardest part for me is the wait until October.
