They're copying the gimmick from Ghost and the music from Imagine Dragons. If that isn't edgy I don't know what is.

Don't think I've ever had an imagine dragons song leave me an emotional wreck the way "Are You Really OK" did. Like they could even come close.

They rely too much on gimmicks and not actual cohesive music. But if it works for you thats fine. just for me its not very good at all.

The thing with ID to me is I like their music better when they're being covered by better artists. *shout out to BFMV's Radioactive*
So their writing itself isn't the worst, I just kinda don't like Dan Reynolds lol.

Dan Reynolds isn't great by any means, but he's the only person who gives ID any sense of personality. The rest of the band members might as well be replaced by Chuck E. Cheese animatronics

Are you a child by any chance? I now remember why I haven’t been on this site in years. I get that it’s not for everyone, but come on dude. This is just hate writing for the sake of hating it.

Anyone else notice the callback from "Euclid" all the way back to "The Night Does Not Belong to God" off Sundowning?

There’s a lot of call backs on the last two tracks. “When the bough breaks” is another one. It comes full circle back to Sundowning, which I think is pretty neat.

I love that. It's self-referential but also moves forward. In a way I feel like bands like this are moving into a direction of "post-genre", where genre boundaries are completely shattered and it's like the epitome of the meme:
"how many genres do you want in your song?"
"yes"
but unironically and I LOVE that. I'm all for bands just saying "fuck it" and doing a lil bit of everything. Dare I say this album has inspired the fuck out of me musically. Gonna throw a TDWP "Twenty-Five"/Rolo Tomassi/Svalbard-y mishmash together and release it someday.

I think what helps is despite the crazy genre bending it still has that accessibility/hooks. So it's easier to digest than something that's just a complete hookless thing if that makes any sense.
