From the few songs ive heard from them I think they would be better off dropping the metal part of their sound tbh. When I tried the title track it seemed so forced and had no build up to it at all when the song just got heavy for no reason and dismantled the atomsphere/soundscape they spent 6-7 minites building. Wonder if the other members are into the cult thing they have going on or they aee just sort of there

Ascensionism, Are you okay? and The Apparition back to back to back is really something special. I also love the call back to some of their other songs on the last two tracks. Great stuff.

Ok, my first concession for the new songs: I kind of like Rain. It's good, then the guitars kick in, and it's very good. I mean, until the refrain of "rain down on me" lool. The end of the title track is great. I like Euclid.

seen a lot of praise for this band
seen a lot of shit talk about this band
i think it's high time i, the objective arbiter of good music taste, take the plunge and decide whether this sucks ass or not
be back in an hour to let you good folks know my findings

It's neat. Feels like a grab-bag, but a slight majority of the songs worked for me.

for every part of a song that is really good like the second chorus of Rain or the first half of Summoning, there are 3 overly pretentious turds that make me to vomit

This doesn't sound pretentious at all? It's nice vibes and I like the more out there experimentation and genre bending.

oh sure this anonymous band claiming to make music in service of a self-invented deity by fusing a concertedly contemporary mix of styles together in simultaneously boring as hell and uniquely distasteful fashion + with such a belaboured set of vocal infections that they resemble fucking condiments more than their native country isn’t in the slightest pretentious
|
| |
'with such a belaboured set of vocal infections'
yeah thats what i dislike about this band the most
vocalist reminds me of many shitty male uk singer who makes bland radio music
|
| |
'experimentation and genre bending.'
yeah but this is those things for people who think those clown core videos were genius
|

There is no way any god would want this shit made in their name, sung by this member of the Kong family. That would not happen.

When I think "pretentious" I don't think a band genre-bending in as natural of a flow as I hear here + lyrical content that's true to home. I think more self-indulgent crap like the 1975. Like "Are You Really OK" is a genuinely heartbreaking song if you've ever lost someone to suicide or dealt with the fear of losing someone to suicide. I don't see how one could make the universal feeling of that pretentious unless they're trying to mock it.
