I'm pretty sure they have something cooking for the twenty year anniversary of this alb. I'm hoping it's a re-recording.

I just saw them play this from front to back in Adelaide... Damn did it ever refresh my love for this (even though I've adored it for twenty years already)...
Buddy has such an amazing stage presence. Dancing, engaging the crowd, sense of humour... and he did a fuckin shoey too. Story of the year singer was just not funny at all in comparison, and not as charasmatic (but damn does he sound identical to recordings.. pretty impressive).
I will admit there were some parts that buddy sounded better than others... Like the bridge in let it enfold you. I was so looking forward to that part, but he sounded extra nasally during it for some reason (despite sounding great for the rest of the song). It also sounded like they didn't place a microphone in front of the bass drum for senses fail, because I could barely hear the double bass kicks, yet when story of the year came on, the bass was pounding.
Lots of people were talking really loud around me during some of the songs too. Seems like most people were there to see the headliner, which is to be expected.. But I was there for senses fail. This album (and still searching) are better than any Story of the year album imo.

this is very fun. definitely a slightly heavier taking back sunday. half the songs i really like a lot and the other half are just kinda forgettable. nothing like this needs to be this long either. but when they hit they really hit. love the opening 3, t/t and closer. sticks way to close to the same formula. t/t i dig in that respect. cleans rule, screams are ok and honestly album might've been better ditching them. kinda spotty in places.
also these bands seem to get compared a lot but man discovering the waterfront (which i recently revisited) does basically this exact album so much better. still tho pop punk-y post hardcore with really great hooks and melodies so you can't ask for much more! curious to check the next because this is definitely a traditional debut album flawed, messy but flashes of something special.

I'd take this slightly over Discovering the Waterfront I think. Either way, both were seminal in my late middle school/early high school years lol.

Def take this over waterfront. This is iconic imho
