It's actually one of the first times I don't find them boring. I've always thought they relied too much on the guitar work alone, with tracks that often lacked atmosphere.
This time it doesn't. The middle section is particularly brilliant.
And there's way more depth in the sound/production overall.

tbh after many listens i'm kinda surprised to see so many meshuggah comps for the new single
if anything, halpern feels like the only thing holding it back from being a knocked loose song lmao

New track is... something... I don't understand how a band that dominated a genre for so long has become so stale.
"A Pale White Dot"? More like "Periphery VI: The Bar's Getting Lower"

yeah not a good song. really not a fan of what they are doing with the production. the guitars sound washed out and inarticulate + the drums sound extremely artificial even by periphery standards... which works on mr god but not this new one at all
its only two songs but this is the first time they've felt like trend followers rather than the trend setters... guess it comes for nearly everyone eventually

The second single is much better than Mr God thankfully. But yeah, the guitars/riffs have been dumbed down which is a shame.

idk how I feel about it, since P2 I never have a cohesive opinion on this band's music until about a year after an album comes out, other than Genre
