True. Also think Take This Life and Reflect the Storm are top tier.

Crawl Through Knives chorus might be the best one of their post 2000 work

CC is unquestionably top 5 IF and I wouldn't argue with anyone putting it in their top 3. It'd be so much better though if the production was a little better. Always sounded too loud and muddy to me.

Crawl Through Knives is boring.

CC is in my opinion their best, outside the TJR-Clayman run. Outside a few moments it is such a solid record.

Come Clarity is by far their best post-Clayman, it's a legit late career album by these guys, but as with most of their records, the production sucks. Also, Anders overdoes it in a lot of spots

Yeah, the title track is almost abysmal due to the vocals alone. They are so whiney it's kinda funny.

Dialogue in B Flat Minor is quickly becoming one of my favorites on this

This is definitely the heaviest album they've release in a long time, and I like how Anders finally switched his harsh vocals to sound more like he does live.
"On Foregone In Flames have injected their modern sound with the visceral heaviness and majestic melodies that have been lacking for years,"
I agree with the heaviness aspect that has mostly been lacking, but not the lack of majestic melodies. While many don't like Battles or I, The Mask (I still thoroughly enjoy them), things like the solo from In My Room as well as the little interlude into the solo of I Am Above remind me more of the band's "golden era" than many aspects of this album. However, I do love the incorporation of more clean/acoustic guitar parts as they make the switch to distortion guitars sound more epic and melodic.

Good review. Never been the biggest In Flames fan but I'm going to give this a shot.

It's a great album— I enjoy all the throwbacks to their older sound, but they still integrate their more modern sound. It would be boring if they just did a complete rehash of their 90's sound with zero changes, I prefer this. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm really not bothered by the singing. Yes it's layered and tuned, but that's called modern production, and I'd rather have that than some raw out-of-pitch singing. Granted, I also enjoy metalcore and a lot of pop music, so I see no issue with writing slick choruses.

I'm with you bud, vocals don't bother me one bit, in fact I Iike them, I do like unique expressive vocals actually. Thats a music take that should not be controversial but the nature of music elitism leads to comparisons all the time. Prop my shit up by putting other shit down. Don't look at what the artist is trying to do, rather does the artist fit with my preconceived notion of what I consider worthwile? No? Then its garbage art.
