I need to do more deep dives into Secret Base. The only one I’ve seen so far was on the Mariners, which was referred to me by a friend. Never seen FlemLo and doesn’t sound like I will.

The only YT football news I have ever watched is that goofy punter dude Pat McAfee, he was really fun on the couple occasions I watched

Secret Base is worth the time commitment. They've got a very distinctive style that I enjoy and are excellent story tellers. If you're a fan of the Mariners format, I'd recommend their series on Dave Steib and the Atlanta Falcons documentary.

Okay I’ll need to check that one out. It’s just the time commitment is hard considering I’m on the internet less than 99.999 of America. Maybe this weekend.
Pat McAfee is pretty funny. Although I like seeing Shannon Sharpe get furiously angry with Skip Bayless when Skip is being a mad troll too.
P.S. Has anyone here seen The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent? Need to know if it’s good…

Oh hmmm interesting, will check. Just got internet back at my house and it came with a Hulu/ESPN+ thing and I have been watching so much 30 For 30 mmmm
I haven't personally seen it Manatea but my film nerd friend has good taste and really liked it

Secret Base is great. I find it hits a similar feel as like what Summoning Salt is to video game speedrunning.
For the day to day news I really enjoy That'sGoodSports.

@Mana I ignore those kind of shows man, their whole gimmick is based around shock value and faux-hot takes. It's emblematic of all that's wrong with ESPN and other sports shows nowadays, nothing about their current crew is genuine. You can't tell if they're an actual person or just a mouthpiece for whatever can get some delicious clickbait.

Summoning Salt [2] that channel is amazing.
Dude uploads once every 3 months and it's always an event. He consistently rakes in millions of views.

@Mars. It’s true, it is total shock value. It’s entertaining at times though. Although I do listen to anything actual former football players have to say, I feel like that’s more genuine. But yeah if I want actual news I go to The Ringer.

Pretty sure Shannon is also a supporter of Farrakhan, which is a veeeeery problematic line of thinking to subscribe to.

@Pencil Secret Base is perfect relaxation content, but I also love paying full attention.

I think the Secret Base Rewinds have fallen off a little bit. Not that they aren't good but they used to hit so much harder and give me chills. Now they're mostly background listening when I fold laundry or make food. I'm not sure why I'm not quite as into them as I used to be.

People have suggested for years that they add an opposite series to Collapse as well. Instead of focusing on a team falling apart, they could highlight how a team rose to prominence and reconstructed itself. Surprised they haven't jumped on that opportunity yet.

That sounds like a great idea, actually. I like their series on legends that never won championships too but I feel like they're too far and few between. I wish they'd have more frequent videos but quality over quantity. I guess it's because it's hard to find sports content on YouTube like that with the level of production they have that I'm left fiending between their uploads.

It'd be a nice dose of positive energy between all the collapse videos and beef histories lol

the video they did on Dave Stieb was absolutely outstanding. I had a friend growing up who's dad was a Toronto native and was a huge Stieb fan and I really didn't know who he was but had heard great things (played before I was born and Toronto players never get notoriety outside Roy Halliday RIP). that video really put into perspective on how amazing and impactful he was and how little pop he gets.
