“Idk if this is better than AB, at least AB had memorable moments albeit for bad reasons. This is just so toothless and forgettable.”

highlights on the last 2 are better (Shelf Life, Bloodsucker, Nothing Shameful, Lyrics Lie) but i think this is overall the better package despite feeling bloated.
the only factual reason I can say why is because i'm not fuckin tired of it yet/haven't overplayed it.

they've kind of become a facsimile of themselves.
happiness era changed the game. then it became formulaic:
quirky album art painting + funk rnb pxc = new album (just vary the singer).
that is kind of why Happiness is the last album by them I find unique/not filler.

"It's pretty simple, really. Lots of people are willing and able to separate art from the artist without guilt."
you mean lots of people (men) choose to not give a shit about women getting raped? Because that's what it sounds like...
This isn't the drummer in some death metal band...this is the vocalist, often singing about sexual and romantic topics. Whilst you know, in the meantime, he's been raping people. How on earth can you empathise with his music / art in that context?

The age old debate of… can you separate the music from the person

It’s simple Ollie, every time you listen to this album you need to listen to Kezia once for Tilian’s rapey energy to be counterbalanced by its logical polar opposite - the pompous lyrics of an intellectual young virgin who thinks that by channeling his sexual frustration into an album trying to be a white-knight-modern-male version of Christine de Pizan, women will want to have sex with him but despite all this, was never a rockstar, and left his band unceremoniously, after which they put out their best record in several years, without him
