@odal are you gay? If not you’d be best advised to simply not defend the usage of that word in any capacity

The genius.com editor wrote "kendrick might’ve singlehandedly ended the normalization of homophobia in hip hop with this one. really interested to see how the culture reacts to this" LOL

I'm straight, I think.

But again, I've said worse things on xbox lobbies during Halo 3. I don't use the word in my vocab anymore, but to pretend that there isn't a situation where these words can be said is just stupid pearl clutching. Kendrick is literally illustrating in very tangible terms how people can grow from having problematic views and is not using words flippantly. Not gonna pretend that my views are perfect or that I have always had my current views, but I am glad I am where I am. If people see the lyrics and connect with them, I can only see it being a good thing. They are certainly charged and combative, but I don't think these lyrics are in bad faith at all

If you honestly think that Kendrick Lamar in the year 2022 would use the f-slur multiple times without examining or interrogating why then that's on you lol

his intent was never going to be the main focus of the song in the year 2022, i'm surprised he didn't see that before he dropped it

@Pots

All good. Could definitely see why not following along with lyrics would have a different reaction than I had
