Broken Cog gives me C33 vibes, I think it's cos of the eerie vocals.

This is way better than the last 2. Love koloss but it's a bit lacking is atmosphere. And is a bit to straightforward for it's own good. Violent sleep is great. But a bit mid temp and monotonous. If I'm nitpicking. But THIS. Most diverse. Cohesive. Melodic and downright filthy albums they ever did. Everything that was ever great about meshuggah from every previous album is represented here.

If this is their last chapter, then damn what a hell of a way to go out.

They do a good job of nodding towards their past work on this one, feels like a culmination of everything they've done up to now with an added dose of melody.

It's the one I liked the less ;(
Phantoms would be my pick.

I think Clockworks is still better than anything here tbh, but this whole album is DEFINITELY better than Violent Sleep imo

I obviously want more Shug, but tbh I wouldn't be mad if this was their last. What a fucking note that would be to end on.

@DType agreed, really creepy closer tbh.
@Jeet all three excel at different things, this is probably the most consistent of the three but lacks a real standout moment e.g. Clockworks and/or Demiurge.

Ok Past Tense best song, The Last Vigil is the best Meshuggah song ever made though

I feel like Black Cathedral is kinda out of place, doesn't quite fit in the tracklist
