You guys know they’re still going to make normal Converge albums right

I was going to say, shouldn’t this be listed as “converge and Chelsea wolf”? That’s how it’s labeled on most streaming services
|
| |
That’s not how Bannon explained it tho, he said Chelsea, Brodsky and Ben Chisholm are doing effectively members of Converge specifically for the releases titled “Blood Moon”. Normal Converge albums will still just have the core four

which is fair and fine, but also zero reason why this shouldn't be housed as the distinct project that it obviously is
|
| |
They should call it like “Converge Blood Moon” or something I agree

hate to say this but
it's no silk sonic

Like Sonic the Hedgehog?

Converge & Chelsea Wolfe & Ben Chrisholm & Stephen Brodsky wasn't an easy name to sell.

Fortunately!

“yeah I think my problem with this is that whenever Converge actually try to do something that's...well Converge, they're suddenly reminded that Chelsea Wolfe is in this and they have have to do it her way.”
what a weird take. They’ve been doing slower, more experimental songs since YFM and arguably even Jane Doe. All of these songs sound like Converge aside from Coil.
And do you really think they were catering specifically to Chelsea with Lord of Liars? You know, the most frenetic song on the record where Chelsea handles the lead vocals?

i mean a fair point but it's literally cherry-picked from an album with 11 songs, all songs that resemble something from CW's backlog than something you'd hear from Converge. which is fine, I'm not knocking an expansion in sound, Converge has been doing that with every album since Jane Doe, however it just..... doesn't sound good. the added "gothic" elements give it a cheesy halloween-spook vibe esp paired with bannon's scott kelly impersonation

blood moon: I (god pls don't let there be a II) wants to "experiment" but is nothing more than CW-wank album made by musician who actually have talent

failure forever is an absolute bop however, sounds like something i'd hear on a deftones b-side. and scorpion's sting is tolerable w/ it's smoky western vibe, corner of the dive bar on a weeknight melancholy. and CW actually does something slightly different with her delivery. finally

I still don’t quite understand the complaint about her vocal delivery being too typical. Her screams in the first song on the album are completely new for her.

chelsea is absolutely not the problem here. i dont think her melodies are particularly varied but thats such a small complaint since theyre still mostly solid when bannon sounds like absolute shit every time he tries to sing and when the instrumentation is consistently pretty boring

“Converge & Chelsea Wolfe & Ben Chrisholm & Stephen Brodsky wasn't an easy name to sell.”
Well there have been similar attempts…
