tbh 4.9 is one of the most nebulous ratings on the scale.
i don't tend to use all increments bc the faff over whether this or that album is aktchuallllly a 4.1 or a 4.2 etc at whatever specific point in time is just silly, but it is helpful to have upper and lower bounds for each .5 ratings (i.e. soft 4, 4, hard 4 and so on).
even then, the sense of what makes an album a soft 5 (4.9) and not a hard 4.5 (4.7) is a fiddly one and maybe not something that belongs in sentences in the english language idk. shit be fraught. respect your 4.9s ig

I am wondering now though, how many layers does an album need to get a 4.9? And does a 4.9 mean that said album is missing just the one layer that makes it a perfectly layed out album?
