To me this whole album is autumnal perfection

somebody probably mentioned this somewhere, but I feel like there's a lot of the same senibilities Colour of Spring/Spirit of Eden era Talk Talk had, especially in how they utilise silence in their songwriting and in the drum section. might need to bump this, the atmosphere is absolutely sublime and feels like they managed to achieve it so effortlessly.
it's a special record for sure and the lyrics speak to me on a personal level

I'm seeing Peter Silberman of The Antlers and Will Sheff of Okkervil River live nezt week - cool tour where they're each apparently both playing solo and also joining in playing each other's tunes.

Sounds splendid, enjoy it. They also have a new recording out with Cowboy Sadness, Bing & Ruth, and Port St. Willow. Straight up ambient music isn't really my thing, but it's still nice.

I felt the touch of the kings
And the breath of the wind
I knew the call of all the song birds
They sang all the wrong words

This is lovely. A bit homogeneous and bare-bones but it paints that fuzzy frolicking-in-the-meadows warm sort of daydream vibe p good

This is approaching classic status for me, there's not a single mediocre song on here, each one is beautiful and meaningful in the context of the album as a whole. One of my favorite releases I've come across in the last 2-3 years

Hey Phero! It is was pretty cool - Silberman's voice sounded amazing and Sheff rocked hard - the end segment of the show where they played together was a treat as well.

Well that sounds lovely enough!

Yeah, definitely think it's worth going to! Good vibes all around too, both of them were super appreciative of each other and their music.

Dont know what to feel about the new song tbh
Sure it will work in the context of the album but weird choice for a single?

Second half is much better than the first, that's for sure.

Must def give it more listens but my first reaction was kinda lukewarm

New song is excellent. That guitar solo is low key epic. And the new album is...interesting. It's very much an Antlers album in that it's initially kinda wtf but then grows into a masterpiece. If Green to Gold is autumn -- picturesque and nostalgically glowing -- then Blight is winter; cold, mysterious, isolated.

Burst Apart already felt kind of like a winter album to me, had that coldness to it right off the bat. Interesting to hear tho, will have to see how it compares to this. I wish I connected more with this. Def their “autumnal” album, but not all of it lands for me. I wish everything was on par with Just One Sec. Should revisit tho — it’s been years, and I had an initially lukewarm take on Familiars, which grew to become one of my favourites

I thought the new song was amazing, especially the 2nd half. Very different from this album

Without giving any more away (saving the rest for my eventual review), I'll just say the new one feels very formless and natural, almost Attic-esque. Like wandering a field for hours and noticing little beautiful things you've never seen before.
If you thought this was boring though and want more traditional "songs" with defined melodies like Just One Sec, then the new one will very likely be a letdown (just guessing, who knows). It's another step into weirdness, but a good one in my estimation and yet another Antlers grower.
