This would be a much better listen if Sam didn't repeat words on almost every song. It feels like a poor attempt to make the songs catchy. I gave this a 3.5 but im starting to think that is way too generous.

I've noticed this repeating words thing with Architects on a lot of their albums to be fair but yeah it seems worse on this one. It does come off as quite lazy for sure.

I'm just listening to All Our Gods right now and the lyrics are just incredible to me. Tom Searle was a great lyricist and songwriter. I like the songwriting on this album mostly but I think the lyrics are trying to emulate what Tom did but just seem less well written and more elementary if that makes sense.

This! Tom came up with lots of great lines. Atm they try to do something similar, but fail miserably

Tom was amazing but let's not pretend he would have done any different here if he were still alive. The lyrics would be better sure, but Tom would've been just as willing to go this brand of production as his other band mates were. Here and Now exists for a reason.

I’ve listened to this all week on loop at work and it’s still consistently okay. Some cringe, derivative moments, but overall it’s a harmless and fun album

@Steak
I know. I'm, just saying the band has always wanted to embrace more mainstream sounds.

this is one of the worst albums ive ever heard, this band is dead along with tom, hearing this makes me realise that tom is the only thing that made this band do anything interesting, tom would be absolutely disappointed if he heard this, not a single thing on this is interesting, it's not about them going mainstream, it's about lazy song writing, they did not try at all with this, i hate the attitude that if you don't like this it's because they aren't "heavy anymore"
|

sir that is a brazen approach to the comma
agreed with the sentiment though

Throwing a match into an inferno but this really is that bad.their identity is kinda still there but anything that made them unique and exciting is just gone. This is the most disappointing-core album since "Erase Me" (which is still pretty decent fwiw)

Discourse is Dead actually sorta rips ngl

Ever since 2011 all their album titles are annoying. Like some pseudo-meaningful one liner right before the shootout scene in a shitty action movie

@DoctorGonz THIS man. The album has been good for workouts this week. Its nothing special and probably wont listen again much after this week, but what is this outcry against it.

This. 100% this. I've realized there are no songs on this I actually like, just a few I think are better than the others by comparison. I don't hate it because they've "gone soft" I hate it because it's boring and every song blends into the next. It might have been better if they culled 4-5 tracks, but holy shit an hour of this is monotonous.

this is the most absolutely mind-numbingly boring thing i've heard in a while
at least A Day To Remember knows how to mix it up a bit. is there literally any way to differentiate between tracks here?

I didn't hate this nearly as much as the new ADTR album, in fact I have a newfound appreciation for it after hearing You're Whalecum.
