Not being a big fan of the orchestration and some of the terrible lyrics pissing me off had me speaking too soon and too harshly about this. I still think “Numbers” is the worst track on here and a few cuts are rather average (“La Brea Tar Pits”, “Playing My Piano”), but the album does contain easily some of their best material since White (“All My Favorite Songs”, “Screens”) and “Bird With A Broken Wing” is probably just top tier Weezer. Even the remaining tracks are pretty cool although some of the lyrics can get really grating.

the new album sounds so far like an amplification of pop punk youthfulness mixed with weezer's self conscious sadness and proper rock riffs, which is the album I'm waiting for
this one is mellow but slightly tiring, which sadly still makes it a solid Weezer record lol
