Laetitia takes the backseat on Tone Burst mainly because of that godlike drone-jam that rocks the second half. Sister Ray-level scuzz right there

Tone Burst is a monstrous intro but it took me a fair few goes to appreciate. The rest was easier. I'm on the same side as Demon and Ars regarding what era of the band I'm likely to play more often. Although it's all great, ETK-Dots-Cobra win for me.

Allow me to move that forward one more place to Dots / Cobra / Dust, the holy trinity ðŸ¤

Yes lol, Dots thru Dust is easily Stereolab's best 3-combo, even if this is better than any of those individually

Planning a full and chronological discog run before committing to a final order but will take a breather and come back to it.

Agreed, Dots / Cobra / Dust is my fave Stereolab run and one of the more legendary runs out there overall.

"Is this the Super Electric appreciation thread??????!"
I believe so 'til such times as someone reviews the first Switched On compilation
To explain, I was meant to exorcise....

@Trif & z00sh,
How about we each review the album/compliation we mentioned?

I could try CC, it'd be difficult though, but it deserves a review.

No pressure Trif, was just a cheeky suggestion 😉.
Would be a hard one. It took me a year to consider reviewing Margerine Eclipse after doing Peng.

Well it's a good idea to put some pressure on sometimes. Let's say you've planted a seed and now I'll think about an angle every once in a while when I hear its tracks. You never know where this will lead to!
It's also that I think reviewing a band I've already reviewed before is difficult. I've only done it once I think, with Underworld.
Writing about compilations is difficult too I'd imagine.

Yeah I think they're the only band I've done twice. Always concerned about repetition.

Weird isn't it? I really don't understand why but I've got that same feeling. Do you know why this happens for you?

Very weird. I think it comes down to a lack of confidence and a big dose of imposter syndrome for me. It's also as if I feel i'll struggle to find even more words to describe an artist after writing something. This really shouldn't be a concern when considering a band like Stereolab who have a lot of diversity throughout the discog and plenty to talk about.

Weird question but: is there a single Stereolab song that actually mentions its own title in the lyrics?
I just looked through all of ETK and not once
It feels so rare that it's deliberate, I wonder why

The opener of Peng "Super Falling Star" definitely does but I can't think of any others from the top of my head.

Nice insight Ars! They are too cool with using language I think. I mean, they called a song
Soop Groove.
Soop Groove! Hahahaha. They really don't do that more than a handful of times I think, have the song title in the lyrics.
