All that aside though, contributing to the production debate: I think this has my favourite Paysage production. It's very soft. Which just allows it to rest nicely as ambient noise, whereas some other Paysage albums can have quite sharp sounding lo-fi production, which adds more to the black metal and icy winds vibe, but isn't as relaxing to listen to.
This is basically just an ambient album, let's not even pretend it's black metal at this point.

Just listened to it again while reading. Makes for a very nice little reading soundtrack. I quite dig it, I have to say. I guess because it's winter here, this is hitting very nicely for me right now. It's been a while since I listened to old Paysage, so I can't remember specifics, but I'm liking the little added elements in here like quite acoustic guitars over the riffing, or what sounds like violins, and the synths in some tracks. It's all quite understated and not overdone. Gonna listen to some more Paysage this week because I don't think I've listened to any since Das Tor was released. It's not often I'm in the mood for this type of bm.
