Yeah, but my point is that Eric Garner and George Floyd are the two we watched get recorded over the last few years. But black people have been saying this stuff happens forever. It's seeing the actual murders on Twitter and tv news that's a new phenomenon, not the killings. "I can't breathe" is a specific reference, but I'm sure he meant it for an overarching idea.

I just looked up the line, he actually says Twitter and tv after the "I can't breathe" line, I really didn't know he said that.

Last rtj song I can remember really liking was a christmas fucking miracle. Can't think of a single track here that's memorable. It's just all deep bass and polished bland beats set to hard rapping. Would like more musical diversity and a little more emotion to go with it

to be fair it is possible to update a verse after the fact but i can’t say the proximity to which this was released & the events that transpired with george floyd

The fact that Killer Mike could predict, down to the quotation, the George Floyd situation, proves that this is not out of the ordinary at all.

No, I'm sure he referenced Eric Garner, but I think he used a major, poignant example as a demonstration of the ongoing plight of black Americans under the thumb of police.

Of course it's a coincidence that it happened again RIGHT when this was scheduled, but other than that, the point still remains that he's referencing a problem writ large. He also could have talked about Freddie Gray, but Garner was more of a flashpoint.

Choking out black men has become a ritual for racist cops.

Did you guys know that around 100 black people are choked out by white men annually?

I know I'm pages late but gyro I'm surprised at some of your comments given that this record and RTJ in general do a great job at pointing to the systemic problems that manifest in police brutality. They hardly call things out without tying them to something deeper
