...
literally the whole point of this band being discussed ever especially in the wake of this review is to uncarpet it from all its gross pretentious fashy bullshit
y'all are fucking cowards have fun shitposting about riffs again x

I do like riffs. Long ones, short ones. Riffs you can throw sticks at

Do you see this albums as fashy stuff? yeah, I know who Mikko Asppa is and shit. I also read some interviews with them in which they seem to get their dicks hard by being so 'arts above everything' that they don't mind working with that fascist. But to me this whole album's lyrical concept seems to be a mocking of authoritarian (fascist) regimes, their way of self justification, of the inner contradictions that arise by that etc..

uh uncarpet it all then instead of complaining about us not uncarpeting
can't just appresh riffs these days without having to explicitly say you don't support fashy boiz

"This album is basically a collection of jams that all sound the same. Hard riffs, big dicks, sweaty chodes; A grandma's worst nightmare. Feel the beast. It rages on inside us all." -sonic, 2010

gonna hazard a guess that not having an allergic reaction to the cute wall of cognitive dissonance on the last page would be a good start
|

acknowledging that something exists and actively deciding it doesn’t bother you is not cognitive dissonance

Can we just pick up on porc's suggestion that Manson may have been a carpooler, and discuss what the implications of this are on his oft-overlooked musical endeavours?
-ethnostates sound awful
-Varg's twitter sounds awful
-Climate change activism is good, but posting bombs to people is silly
-[redacted]Censorship is usually bad[/redacted]
-Antivax is fucking silly even if conversations about state sovereignty over people are interesting
-Calling people names is mean
-Stop funding fascist zines
Fair, Johnny. I'm sure if we addressed each other civilly we'd make, uh, /more/ progress at least

@tec that is not what i am referring to
too bad it's buried in however many layers of kneejerk
and ok! this content is a light to us all

Okay. I mean i don’t doubt there are people who try to justify certain artists’ abhorrent behaviors or outdated worldviews in order to quell their own internal guilt but there are legitimately people (like moi) who recognize it but are too old and jaded (and honestly, lazy?) to contribute to the activism, as if one fellow in southeast michigan boycotting their music is going to make any difference. truth is if i started writing off artists based on their egregious behaviors, at least half of my top 100 would vanish. i’m sure this post probably sounds unintentionally privileged but i just can’t be arsed with continuously culling my listening habits based on morality.
pls don’t kill

Is there a vaccination for anyone who's been exposed to page 10 and if so, where can I sign up?

Yeah Johnny’s next review thread. But you need a 3.5 rating or higher to qualify.

Completely understand where you're coming from tec. Start Something was a childhood album of mine, and I still occasionally dabble in it despite the horrible shit related to that album because it was formative and yadafuckinada, but I won't be giving that monster any money or positive publicity in the immediate future.
Idolising individuals is certainly a tough game, because everyone sucks for some reason or other, but there is value in recognising that as a spectrum. No, you don't need to retrospectively rearrange your entire musical history. The reality in terms of THIS BAND in THIS THREAD is that they aren't just peddling cute lil thought experiments, they have proven links to harmful organisations that they refuse to properly acknowledge. What a good journalist does (read: the articles I reference, not me prancing around talking about feces) is present this for you. You don't needa sell off your merch or go Eternal Sunshine on us or anything, maybe just don't buy that next DSO shirt?

I have to admit in this exact case I don’t know the extent of DsO’s supposed transgressions (though I can rile up a pretty good guess based on genre + context clues) but I am proud to admit i’ve never purchased a single DsO piece of paraphernalia. I am too poor to afford merch, actually. So all they’ve gotten from me are pennies on the dollar from Spotify streams lol. I guess that’s true for most bands, though 😢

my opinions on this band beyond their music are pretty reserved but i think it's agreeable not to spend a dime on their work as long as aspa is involved

"there are legitimately people (like moi) who recognize it but are too old and jaded (and honestly, lazy?) to contribute to the activism"
no issue with this whatsoever, beyond maybe definitely not venturing into direct financial support where possible or, uh, ever
spamming a page out of direct eyesight purely bc it's inconvenient to have someone earnestly and extensively posting cryptoluddite freezepeech mania, on the other hand...
like, i don't like that content any more than the rest of you, but it's a cheap move (esp in the context of the posts in question) to crowdcensor it with shitposts bc you don't wanna give it the reading or response time that precisely no-one is asking of you. thread has not been improved one bit tbh

Perhaps, then, it was for the best that I didn’t scan back over the last page. For what it’s worth I am at the gym currently listening to DISINTEGRATION so i’m only about a 20% stakeholder in this discourse right now.
