A serious contender for aoty right here. There are so many already, it's amazing

Between this, the new Mayhem and Borknagar my top 5 will be dominated by Norwegian bands.

Ohh, I figured out what this reminds me of. Fukin Assassination of Julius Caesar.

Jammed Bilateral and realised how inferior this sounds

Goddammit

To be fair, there's a lot that's inferior to Bilateral.

I actually return to the newer albums much more frequently. I don‘t necessarily think they are better, just much more pleasing to my ears. Meanwhile Bilateral doesn‘t give a fuck and goes crazy with multiple weird ideas at the same time.

On a side note, I‘m sure these songs here will sound even better live. Hoping for The Sky is Red as a closer.

It is. I had it about six weeks before the release date, and it took at least three of those weeks for me to really start to click with it.

Pretty wild, considering I clicked with it first listen... and I was a bit disheartened by the singles. Not sure what happened.

There's something separating this from their last couple outings.. Whatever that happens to be I dig it. The string sections are a nice touch.

May be that there's a strong sense of integrity in this album. Whatever genre it is, it feels genuine. I'm not getting my techy instrumental fix as with earlier releases, but it's replaced with something equally profound. I dig it.

You might be onto something.. It's like more subdued, melancholic Bilateral, without the metal.

It still has that "Metal" satisfaction without being Metal...

"Seriously qwenta, what are these takes..."

I hate the At the bottom chorus. Skip track. Distand bells is ok but not enough. Foreigner is meh, and The sky is red is about to wait till the last 4 minutes.

Yes, the las 4 tracks are weak. If they have the greatness of the first part, this would be a 4 or 4.5 for me

The integrity thing is so true, this album doesn't make any compromises.

Also Distant Bells and The Sky is Red are huge bangers wtf

Opposite for me, I can;t stand most of the first half of the album. Foreigner is a good jam and a fresh of breath air towards the end there.
