"Lmao people are seriously giving this a 2 and they want to be taken seriously?"
Sound logic there! Somebody dislikes an album I like so all their opinions of it are irrelevant.

I envy the high IQs who can appreciate this album :'( That's probably because I've lived all my life in 4/4

Gave me a good laugh at least. Might lower this to a 3 tbh... it just reminds me too much of Meshuggah with no other creative outlet, really. The clean sections are cool sometimes though.

The clean sections are the best part
The heavy sections are just spazzy Meshuggah, yes

"Meta is betta" [2]
For sure Pika. Meta is so much more colorful and palatable.

'Are there actually people (with a brain) that have ever listened to an anthony fantano review?'
The melon comment confused me somewhat, so it's this guy again? I'd have no idea who he was if it wasn't for this site, but I'm gonna go OOAL here and claim whoever said he was influencing ratings for this, is talking out of their backside - as this sort of record doesn't seem like it falls in-line with his target audience. This is regardless of whether we're talking about high or low ratings. I'm sure the majority of people are capable of making their own mind up without this Fartano dude.

Not sure why people jack off to him tbh

i regret ever making the melon comment. it's not even worth the 3 pages of discussion lol
but it's happened before. TOOL avg dropped immediately after he shit on that album. i was just wondering aloud if this was the same deal, but it looks like hasn't said anything about this album, people on here just have it out for this band now for some reason

Can’t inagine there’s much crossover between Tool and Car Bomb, all the indie, folk, and arena rock/mainstream metal kids have probably heard the new Tool by now. Everyone’s heard it. Your mum probably plays it in the car. This? Probably not on their radar.

This album seems to have way more variety of sounds compared to their last album which just sounded like one song. I kinda enjoyed meta but I could only listen to a few songs at a time. Granted I've only listened to the first few songs but this one seems more engaging so far. I was worried reading the initial comments here.

Eyecide is so unhinged. I think it's my favorite after Scattered Sprites.
|

honestly didn't find anything about this album worthy of some of the malign it's getting. it's one of the most gimmicky albums i've heard all year but gimmicky metal is more memorable and mindlessly entertaining than the usual torrents of cookie-cutter-core the site pays any attention to

I'd say he definitely sways some peoples opinions. It seems like once something gets a poor review period a lot of people hop on the bangwagon with that mob mentality occasionally. I don't see the big problem with this record though. And when it comes to the Meshuggah comparison aside from the odd time signatures I don't really see how this is all that close. Haven't listened to Meshuggah in quite awhile though
|
| |
i mean i think the most obvious moments that garner meshuggah comparisons are the ones with the drop-z guitar wankery
