Had to bump my rating, never thought I'd give a slipknot record a 4 but hey they really fucking nailed it

My top 3 off this are Nero Forte, Solway Firth, and Orphan

Solid stuff but 7 songs over 5 minutes is overkill for a Slipknot album imo

Has anyone seen this?

Quote from a brand new Jim Root interview

"The experimental side of things has always been something I would like to dive further into, [although] without taking it as far as bands like Radiohead or the Mars Volta do, where they sort of turn into elevator music [laughs]."

Considering the quality of these experimental songs here the irony is mesmerising.

i do agree that intense albums like slipknots shouldnt be this long usually.

they do however make an effort to break it up on this one.

If Radiohead is elevator music, then this is just a 2 year old tantrum.

Like both bands but that's just a stupid thing to say about one of the most respected bands of all time

To suggest that the so called experiemental work of Radiohead and Mars Volta is inferior to songs like Spiders and My Pain is the joke of year.

That's an unfortunate misinterpretation. What I'm saying is regardless of his personal taste, calling out far more successful acts as "elevator music" makes him come across as petty and jealous. He's free to diss who he likes but that doesn't mean he doesn't make himself out to be a douche for it.
