Saw them live last Friday. Was never really a fan of the band, but I had some free time in between other gigs and thought what the heck. Actually they caught me by complete surprise and really convinced me. Gave this album a couple of spins and it's a huge step up imo. Really great piece of work. Phil is a top notch vocalist who actually delivers live.

@Thalassic did you see them at Graspop? That was one awesome show for sure
|
| |
@jemaiseyeti that's correct! You were at Graspop as well?
I had some time left between the Death Angel and Hatebreed (which I had to leave early for Crowbar) gigs. The other options were Eisbrecher and that Mongolian throat singing rock band so I figured Whitechapel would be the better option even though I've always been rather so-so on deathcore in general. Glad I decided to check them. They definitely brought it.

I was way too skeptical on this album. Here's my bump to this solid take.

A New Era is much better imo, but I have always been partial to this band. Phil’s a great songwriter, and I think his fucked up life story translates into some dxc that you can feeeel

yeah exile/era best chapel but props for being able to change up your sound while staying true to your core sound. Hickory Creek is phenomenal 10/10

I have to add that the clean vocals on this one are really convincing and don't feel forced. I hate when vocalists change from guttural growls/scream to gayish forms of clean singing. Phil here was able to change from his usual beastly register to gentle melancholic singing without sounding whiny or ruining the mood of the songs, instead complementing it
