At Wit’s End is the best and the worst song on here all the same. The best as it really kindles some long missed DT feelings, and the worst as it feels unfinished. It falls short, and the fading out is a shame and leaves me hungry for more...

Nevertheless this album feels more alive than the previous three releases, and with Viper King they even leave their comfort zone and try something new, and it works. A very pleasant surprise as a whole.

It does feel like La Brie is starting to show his age alright.

I think his voice here is good but not amazing, just like every studio album since Awake. I love Awake but even there, before the food poisoning, his style started getting annoying. The only impressive performance by Labrie is on Images and Words tbh.

I really think there is a huge difference quality wise between the earlier and later studio recordings. LaBrie was an excellent singer back then with a very comprehensive vocal range and great technique whereas nowadays everything sounds forced even in limited ranges. It seems like at some point he didn’t care anymore and got lazy, which shows at live performances especially.

At least they managed to make him sound quite inoffensive on here, but that is as far as I would dare to go and a devastating verdict in itself.

Mike brings a lot to the table, but ultimately Mike just has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes him superior.

Distance over time isn't much better tbh. But album /song titles have never been the band's strength to say the least
