If people want to discuss the questionable idea of whether or not she is appropriating black culture in her music that's one thing but the skin tone angle is just racism disguised as virtue signaling from people that say "problematic" too much

you're also superimposing motive onto her for having a certain complexion; it would be different if it were clearly flagrant / sardonic ... it's just lunacy

I think ur reading into my criticism a tad too much. It’s an observation. Have you ever seen a legitimate comparison image of her even just like 3 years ago. It’s pretty obvious appropriation and I hate that term used by 99% of people but in her case it’s pretty obvious.

Heavy heavy tanning in 2019 is blackface without the negative connotation. I almost think it makes it worse that way, she’s trying to fool you into thinking that’s her actual skin color by changing it gradually.

But damn I actually dig this album quite a bit.

Tell me you guys deadass think someone with a tan in 2019 taking a low contrast photo of themselves for their album cover is equivocal to full on racists painting their faces black to mock African Americans in the 1900s
