I really like You Aquiver, but it really is misplaced. Would've preferred The Ageless Whisper at the end.

"@dewinged i just remember so many of these videos using soilwork, disarmonia mundi, and early 2000s in flames"

Oh shit yeah, you weren't joking with these, man that's some terrible montage right there...

Not the biggest fan of Bleeder Despoiler (most of it sounds incredibly like a mashup of a couple tunes from their recent albums, and yes I know Soilwork songs can sound a bit samey but it's on another level here) and You Aquifer. Ageless Whisper/Wolves are Back in Town are simply ok, but they could have done better with those.

I also think that while they -are- different songs and probably 2 of the best on the album, Nurturing Glance and When the Universe Spoke are remarkably similar in songwriting terms - kind of weird to have them back-to-back. They would have been better served spaced apart on the album.

Listened to this one yesterday, my first of the band, was pretty good! Much more melodic and softer than I was expecting, but the songs are heavy while still retaining that trad. metal flair. V nice

Nice strategy, Soilwork. Release your album at the beginning of the year just so I can take the time to listen to it with more patience and see if it grows on me, since there's not much stuff I'm looking forward to right now haha...

Looking forward to my next listen.

In my opinion, Soilwork hasn't released an interesting record since "Natural Born Chaos". A number of great singles, certainly, but I can't sit through an entire album without being bored. Maybe this brand of Swedish melodeath just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Very talented band, though, and "A Predator's Portrait" is one of my favorite metal releases. A perfect mix of melody and brutality.
