Not saying that this doesn’t deserve praise, I just don’t think it’s as good as the previous album so idk maybe that’s what I’m getting at lol. This is still one of the best albums of the year.

Julia was actually one of the best songs this year so maybe it's awesome but nothing's THAT awesome.

I dig what I’ve heard from that band for sure but I’m not an expert on them by any means. Think I’ve only jammed 2 of their albums so far.

Loving this a lot. Meeting my expectations for sure. But there is just something about Anareta. I fondly remember everything I was doing at the time. From The Nihilist to my favorite track, Ozymandias, I was instantly hooked and wanted to hear everything that followed. They are definitely more technical and progressive on this one, upping what they did musically on Anareta for sure. I'm only on my second listen so I'm sure I'll feel different in the near future but Anareta had a bigger first impression out the gate than this one.

And I love Ecydsis like the rest but I don't think it has anything on their two to follow that.

Anareta was such a high point for me that I'm surprised they followed up that album with something as good as this. The song writing on their last album is where I always envisioned Chuck Schuldiner to take Death.
